THE REAL STUFF

This image gallery will feature the real stuff in closeup details. I hope this area can be helpful to any modeller that may require these walk-around details for their modelling projects.

To reduce loading times, every page would have only maximum 15 entries per page. Any loose quantity photos that I have from either my personal collection or thru friends would be compiled into a separate PHOTO SCRAPBOOK segment. And for subjects which I have more than 30 photos each, I would put them into another separate SPECIAL FOCUS segment.

Enjoy the images!

AH-64A APACHE

One of the most popular static displays during the Asian Aerospace held in Singapore, 1994.

With the recent development and improvement of the advanced Longbow variant, this combat proven gunship is probably the worst nightmare for armour battle groups in future military conflicts.

UH-60A BLACKHAWK

Another interesting static display during the Asian Aerospace held in Singapore, 1994.

Blackhawk was rumoured to be one of the most agile transportation/utility Helos ever built. The true successor to `Huey' for the United States armed forces, this Helo has actually evolve into many variants including naval & special force versions.

EA-6B PROWLER

US Navy EA-6B Prowler onboard USS Independence aircraft carrier port call at Singapore, early 1990s.

An `extended' variant of the A-6 strike/attack intruder class, Prowler was designed to fight against enemies with RF energy in the form of signals localisation & high power jamming.

V200 COMMANDO

SAF V200 Commando light vehicle on static display during SAF Open House, somewhere in the mid 1980s.

A local Singapore air defense variant of the famous Cadillac V series with the portable Swedish Bofors RBS-70 low level SAM system removed.

STEYR 1500

World War Two German Steyr Type 1500 vehicle on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

This multi-usage Austrian built open top light truck was very popular among troops for it's high reliability and saw action in many configurations including an ambulance version.

M48 AVLB

Ex-West German M48 based AVLB vehicle on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

Bridgelayers like this AVLB were designed to counter enemy obstacles targeted at AFVs and heavy vehicles. "Armoured Vehicle Laying Bridge" concept was adopted first by the Americans after the second World War when their "Push Along" idea was found to be unfeasible.

M88 RECOVERY

Ex-West German M88 Recovery vehicle on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

Tank Recovery vehicles like this M88 were designed to recover damaged vehicles from the frontline while under fire. Though this vehicle has very good recovery capability & features, it fall short for crew protection.

MARDER IFV

Ex-West German Marder IFV on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

This well known vehicle pioneered the way for Infantry Fighting Vehicle (IFV) designs. With a high profile and powerful engine, this is one of the heaviest western IFVs available to NATO during the cold war period.

PANTHER GUN MANTLET

World War Two German Panther 75mm gun mantlet on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

This stripped gun mantlet belonged to an earlier Panther variant as the late model version had extra flat chunk of armour at the lower edge to counter shell ricochets that inflicted unncessary crew injuries.

PANTHER

World War Two German Panther medium tank on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

This Panther weighed 45 tons and mounted the lethal 75 mm high velocity gun. This tank was probably the most outstanding German tank design during the second World War. In fact, the Allies were very keen in capturing and investigating intact Panthers for research.

The British Army even asked MNH tank factory to build extra vehicles for them after the war to be used in testing programme!

KINGTIGER

World War Two German King Tiger heavy tank on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

The "Royal Tiger" weighed 68 tons and was simply the most powerful tank during the second World War.

Mounting the long barrelled 88 mm KwK L/71 HV gun, penetration of 200mm thick homogeneous armour at 1000 yards was like slicing thru butter with a hot knife for this beast!

TIGER I

World War Two German Tiger I heavy tank on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

This Tiger weighed 56 tons and was first deployed in 1942 against the Russian offensive during the War.

This Tiger was purposely cut at the side to reveal the interior for public viewing & education.

PANZER IV

World War Two German Panzer IV tank on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

This Panzer IV was unofficially known as Army Horse in German service during the second World War due to widespread service across all fronts. Even after the war, some ended up fighting against the Israelis under the hands of the Syrians.

M42 DUSTER

Ex-West German M42 Duster anti-aircraft vehicle on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

This decomissioned vehicle was still in top notch condition while I was there, probably also in running condition too!

Originally designed for anti-aircraft role, this kind of SPAAG was used extensively by US forces for convoy escorts, perimeter defense and point security during the Vietnam conflict.

SCHWIMMWAGEN

World War Two German Schwimmwagen vehicle on static display in Panzermuseum, Germany.

A very close relative of the famous Kubelwagen, this vehicle was designed amphibious with a small powered propeller for multi-terrain tasks.

Over 50,000 were made and involved in many roles during the war including reconnaissance and liaison duties.
